I have sworn by a morning routine for about 6 years now. Although the contents of it have changed over the years, I have no plans to drop it.
What do I mean by a morning routine? In a nutshell - taking time before jumping into the outside world (phone, news, work etc). Checking in with yourself and establishing a firm mental standing before facing the world.
Over the years I have used meditation, breathing exercises, mantras, journalling, visualisation, stretching, cold showers, morning swims and so on. It does not have to take a long time and "more" is not better. It can be slow breathing for 5 minutes.
Currently I do a few minutes of breathing exercises, 5 minutes of meditation and then think about the things i am grateful for to get into a positive mindset.
There have been periods where i have not been able to do anything (for example it has not always been possible to find the quiet time in the morning) and I have really missed this kind of an anchor in my mornings. The anchor anchoring me to the ground. Also, it is a way of getting over laziness (some voices would always want you to skip these kind of activities) and it just tells me that i am in a good place in life currently.
These are some of the things I go over in my Life Mastery course and you can find out more here:
