Goal setting is not crucial for living your life but it could be exactly what is needed right now

I would like to approach goal setting from a different and more mellow angle. There are so many posts, books etc about goal setting, achieving etc that it can be overwhelming and it can make a person become bitter about the whole thing. It can easily feel like setting and achieving big goals is the only way to go. Perhaps a reframe is in order.
I love the saying: “If a man knows not to which port he sails, no wind is favorable.” (Seneca)
There is a delicate dance between setting goals, making an effort and letting go. Letting go of the attachment to the outcome that is.
Instead of using the phrase "what is your goal" one can ask: what do i want to achieve in my precious life? where do i see myself in 1 year? in 10 years? how do i want to live my life? what do i want to build for my life? I believe it is crucial to spend time thinking about it.
Instead of thinking about these as "big goals" you can think - what steps can i take today to move towards my dream life? or the change i desire?
Instead of stressing over big goals, ask yourself - who do i want to be or need to be as a person?
Small consistent steps towards something can result in big changes. Ultimately it is about who you become as a person - the goals we set are not guaranteed. The experience from striving towards something is guaranteed.
So what is waiting around that next corner?
